Merseyside police has confirmed that "no offences have been committed" after a post some had claimed showed a couple acting suspiciously was shared widely on social media.
Last week a post was shared on social media claiming a couple had been acting suspiciously at Asda, in Walton. Detectives have told the ECHO that they spoke to a member of the public in connection with the post and identified that no crime had been committed.
The person was offered advice from police and no investigation was launched. Officers have now warned against sharing the post on social media.

Community Policing Inspector Sarah Rotherham said that if anyone has concerns about another incident, they should contact police so that it can be investigated.
Sarah Rotherham said: "We are aware of a video circulating on social media. We have spoken to a member of the public, identified that no offences have been committed and given them verbal advice.
"We would strongly discourage people from sharing this video and speculating on social media. Anyone who has any concerns about any similar matter is asked to contact police directly so that it can be properly investigated."
