Police early this morning (Thursday) issued a warning to drivers to be aware that they were having to deal with some sheep that had got loose and were on a main road in central Pontypool.
Gwent Police issued a bulletin on social media this morning (Thursday) at 5:44 stating that officers had been dealing with the incident on the A4042, from The Horse & Jockey roundabout in Pontypool towards the McDonald's restaurant. They added that the road was sealed off and could cause some congestion in the area as traffic built up towards rush hour.
In the tweet they said: "Police are currently dealing with loose sheep on the A4042 from The Horse & Jockey roundabout Pontypool towards Macdonald's which is currently closed and may cause congestion. Please drive carefully and find alternative routes for your journey."
The operation to round up the sheep took about half an hour and shortly after 6am the road was cleared and re-opened for the morning traffic.
