A police car windscreen was left badly shattered by vandals during patrols at Manchester Pride. Officers, who have been present at the four-day celebrations over the weekend, returned to see one of their cars had been targeted.
Greater Manchester Police shared the news to social media after the windscreen was damaged, as thousands returned to the Gay Village for Sunday night's events. It was during the evening briefing that the car was hit.
Posting a picture of the police car, the force said it meant there was 'one less vehicle to respond to emergencies' until the vehicle is eventually repaired.

It comes as Greater Manchester Police announced that specially trained officers would be visible in the Canal Street area in preparation for, and throughout, this years' pride event. An increase in officers have also been engaging with revellers and local businesses during the four-day event.
Sharing the picture of the damaged car, GMP wrote: "It’s been a really busy weekend for us, but whilst our night patrols were briefing for Pride, someone decided to smash up our police car. That’s one less vehicle to respond to emergencies, not just tonight, but until it’s repaired."
The post seemed to indicate those responsible for the damage had not been caught. Manchester Pride concludes its four-day festival in the city on Monday evening (August 29), with a significant police presence expected as the event wraps up with a candlelit vigil in Sackville Gardens.
And on Sunday evening, police and security staff had to man barriers and turn crowds of wristband holders away in scenes of 'chaos' as the number of people heading to the Alan Turing stage to watch Spice Girl Mel C perform had hit 'maximum capacity'.
