A swan has been left injured and "given a parking ticket" after being hit by a bus in Leeds.
West Yorkshire Police (WYP) were called to Wellington Place, Leeds city centre, on the morning of Wednesday, March 23, after the bird was clipped by a vehicle. An officer found the bird sitting in the middle of a cycle lane.
The swan was left injured with pain in its lower beak, and is currently recovering. Yorkshire Swan and Wildlife Rescue Hospital said: "This swan found itself requiring our help, reported to have been clipped by a bus in Leeds city centre yesterday morning."

A spokesperson for the animal charity added: "Our thanks to the police for contacting us to assist, and for keeping the animal and motorists safe until our rescuer was able to arrive.
"The bird has sustained an injury to the lower beak, but we expect a full recovery." The charity shared a picture of the scene, and a number of people said it looked like a WYP officer was "having its particulars taken".
Kay Ounsworth said: "Does look like the officer is writing a ticket and saying, 'can't park there sunshine'." "Had it been speeding, hope it's OK," Mick Roberts added.
Sam Brown said: "Another one with L plates on. Bless." Rita Harding said: "I thought he was giving it a parking ticket! Well done for helping."
Others sent their well wishes to the bird. "I am glad it is now in safe hands," Philippa Telford said. "Thank you for looking after him. He's such a lovely swan." Sylvia Womersley said: "So glad he was rescued! Thank you all concerned."
Mandy Haxby said: "Thank you so much for rescuing our swan and looking after him. He’s been so lucky and I’m glad the police were on hand to help him too." Lorna Plumpton added: "Aw bless him, so thankful he's in your safe hands now. So glad that the police were able to assist with keeping him safe until he could be rescued."
