Police say '20 youths' have been reported swimming in a reservoir less than 24 hours after a teenager drowned in Salford Quays. Officers were called to Rumworth Lodge in Bolton on Sunday afternoon and say some youngsters were seen jumping off a pier into the water.
Sgt Dan Richards warned of the risks of swimming in open water during the heatwave. Writing on Facebook he said: "PCSOs are on their way to reports of 20 youths swimming in the reservoir at Rumworth Lodge off Beaumont Rd, some of which are jumping off the pier.

"Less than 24 hours ago a young man lost his life in Salford Quays after getting into difficulties in the water. We can't stress enough how dangerous this is, please help us to get the message out there."
The body of a 16-year-old boy was recovered from Salford Quays overnight on Saturday. It came after a major search operation was launched when he had got into difficulty in the water earlier.
Police said the boy who was last seen struggling in the water after swimming with friends. Authorities have issued several warnings urging people not to swim in open water as the temperatures rise. Record-breaking temperatures of 40C are forecast for Monday and Tuesday.
The conditions could be life-threatening and a level four national emergency has been declared by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) for the affected days.
