Police were called after a couple's plans for a relaxing spa hotel stay turned into an angry row with staff.
Sarah Dalton and her partner Phil Crelan were left disappointed during their recent stay at The Suites Hotel & Spa Knowsley, which Sarah had booked as a Christmas present.
The couple, from Bootle, said a number of promised facilities were closed to them when they arrived at the hotel - including the gym and jacuzzi - which they had been looking forward to using.

The problems continued as they found no kettle or iron in their room - as well as a broken hairdryer.
The hotel said that because of these issues, they offered to upgrade the couple to the Presidential Suite, which they accepted.
But there was more tension later on, when Sarah and Phil said they were left waiting outside the hotel in the cold for 20 minutes having been out for a few hours - because the doors were locked and there was no one around at reception.
Mum-of-two Sarah said that at this point her partner got frustrated and complained to a staff member, before beginning to film them.
She said: "It had just been one thing after another and then being made to wait out in the cold was just the icing on the cake."
But the staff member who had been filmed was not happy and called the police, who later made their way to the couple's room.
Sarah said: "After we eventually got up to our room and went to bed, there was a knock at the door and three police officers were there.
"They asked us to delete the video but we didn't want to because we might need it, the police were fine with us in the end."
The next morning the couple said they went downstairs for the spa treatments they had paid for as part of their package.
But they were told they would not now take place by hotel staff who were unhappy with their behaviour the night before and asked them to leave.
Sarah said: "We were really unhappy. We felt like we had been lied to about what would be available to us during out stay.
"This really affected our stay and they should have told us in advance so we could make a decision."
In a statement, a spokesperson for Suites Hotel and Spa Knowsley said the couple had been asked to leave before their spa treatments because of the row the night before.
The spokesperson said: "We recognise that the gym facilities were closed and we hadn't informed the couple. Some items were also missing from their room.
"Because of this, we upgraded the guests to the Presidential suite free of charge as a gesture of goodwill."
"The front door is always locked and we accept the guests had to wait outside for a short time.
"The police were contacted after one of the guests began filming a staff member and officers arrived and spoke to all involved."
Speaking about the decision to ask the guests to leave before their spa treatments the next day, the spokesperson added: "Because the situation the night before had become so tense, it was decided that would not be a good time for the guests to take their spa treatments and they were asked to leave and rearrange for another time."
Speaking about the experience, Sarah added: "We were not happy at all. I felt sick and had a massive headache after what was supposed to be a relaxing stay.
"I came home feeling like I needed a spa break afterwards."
