Police attacked and 11 arrested as illegal rave shut down

  • Dorset Police faced a "violent and hostile" crowd and had missiles thrown at them while attempting to shut down an illegal rave in East Lulworth.

  • Officers made 11 arrests for various offences, including driving under the influence and assaulting an emergency worker, as they worked through Sunday evening to disperse the gathering.
  • Assistant Chief Constable Steve Lyne condemned the violence against officers, saying that further enquiries would be made to identify offenders.
  • Dorset's Police and Crime Commissioner, David Sidwick, said that unlicensed music events, due to their risks and impact, would not be tolerated.
