Police arrest woman after seven-year-old girl died in pond

  • A seven-year-old autistic girl, Nyla May Bradshaw, was found dead in a pond on Owston Golf Course, north of Doncaster, on 30 March.
  • A woman in her 30s has been arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter and child neglect in connection with Nyla's death.
  • The arrested woman has been bailed by South Yorkshire Police pending further inquiries into the incident.
  • An inquest heard Nyla, who was non-verbal, was being looked after by a childminder when she passed through a fence near the golf course.
  • Police initially considered the circumstances non-suspicious but have since furthered their investigation, leading to the arrest, and urged the public not to speculate.
