Police are continuing to appeal for information after a shocking broad daylight armed robbery shocked onlookers on Saturday (July 23) afternoon. A group of around 'five or six' masked men used a car to 'ram-raid' into the jewellers on Wilmslow Road, Rusholme, before entering the shop armed with weapons.
The incident happened at around 1.40pm when Manchester's 'Curry Mile' was typically busy with the group leaving a trail of destruction as they smashed their way into Cashopper, opposite the junction for Great Western Street. The car used for the raid was left damaged in the middle of the road, with police sealing off the busy street for a number of hours as investigations, including forensic, were carried out. One man suffered minor injuries, police said at the time.
Footage of the incident taking place was shared on social media, showing stunned onlookers unable to do anything as the robbery quickly took place. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have confirmed that no arrests have been made in relation to the incident, with an investigation ongoing.

GMP are appealing for anyone with more information on the armed robbery to come forward. In an update today GMP told the MEN : "No arrests have been made at the moment. The male who was injured during the incident only suffered minor injuries. Detectives are continuing to investigate this and anyone with any information or video footage of the offence is encouraged to contact the CID at Longsight on 0161 856 6049."
The road was closed for more than three hours with public transport and other traffic having to divert, re-opening around 5pm. One eyewitness told the Manchester Evening News: "All the cars suddenly stopped and you could see the car smashing into the shop, I didn't know what to think. There must have been five or six of them, some were carrying weapons like bats.
"They used the bigger car to smash the shop before a few of them went in, but they drove off in another car, it was all very quick. It was mad it happening in broad daylight when it's always so busy around here. But nothing is really a surprise around here anymore."
A neighbouring shop worker said: "It happened very quickly. We just heard banging and shouting and everyone ran outside and was filming it. I feel very bad for the workers there it must have been scary."
