Police appeal after Nisa staff member threatened with 'bladed weapon' in robbery

POLICE are appealing for information after a man threatened a shop’s member of staff with a “bladed weapon” in a robbery.

The incident in Hawick in the Scottish Borders occurred around 8pm on Wednesday December 27 at the Nisa store on Dickson Street.

A man entered the store and attempted to access the till and Post Office area before threatening a member of staff with a bladed weapon.

The whole thing was said to have taken less than a minute.

Police have said the suspect is around 5ft 7ins tall, of medium build and was dressed in all black.

He also wore a balaclava covering his face and enquiries are ongoing to establish exactly what happened.

It is understood the man left with a large quantity of cash from the till.

Detective Constable Claire White said: “This has been a frightening incident for the staff member and we have a number of enquiries being conducted to establish who the man is and what has been stolen.

“The man was in and out of the shop in under a minute and we are keen to establish where he came from to enter the store and where he went when he left.

“Anyone who saw a suspicious man in the area, or has information to help police enquiries, should get in touch as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland via 101 and quote incident number 4015 of Wednesday December 27 2023.

An anonymous report can also be made to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
