Wandsworth Bridge Road - (Google)

A man has been left with life-changing injuries following a serious collision in southwest London as police appeal for witnesses.

Officers were called to Wandsworth Bridge Road, near the junction with Pier Terrace, at 7.30pm on Monday following reports of a crash between a Jaecoo Pure 5 car and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a 21-year-old man, suffered serious injuries that are believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

He remains in hospital after being treated by London Ambulance Service.

His next-of-kin are being supported by specialist officers.

The driver of the car, a 36-year-old man, and his passenger, a 30-year-old woman, were arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. They remain in police custody.

Detectives from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit have launched an investigation.

Detective Sergeant Davina Nash said: “This is a serious collision where the victim suffered life-threatening injuries. My thoughts remain with him and his loved ones.

“I would like to appeal to anyone who was in the area and witnessed the incident, or who has dashcam footage that could help our enquiries, to get in touch with us.”

Anyone with information or dashcam footage is asked to contact police on 101, quoting CAD 6694/16FEB, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
