Polbeth Community hub is picked as The Centre Livingston's charity of the month

The Centre, Livingston has announced Polbeth Community Hub as its latest charity partner.

As part of its Support in the Community Initiative, the mall has pledged to help a different local organisation every month to raise funds and awareness of the great work they do and also present them with a £250 Gift Card donation.

The charity, which was founded in December 2018, was established to ensure there was a community building to meet the needs of the local community and to play a role in the overall regeneration of the village.

They run a number of classes, events and projects from the Hub in Polbeth Village Hall, including messy play for kids and yoga and counselling sessions, with the aim of bringing the local community together to increase skills, build relationships and support individuals and families who may be struggling.

They also distribute food donations through their community shop and fridge to over 300 local people.

As part of the partnership, Polbeth Community Hub will be in the mall on Saturday this Saturday and Sunday to raise awareness of their services and appeal for donations of winter warmers, either new or in great condition.

These include thermals, blankets, bedsocks, hats and scarfs for all ages and hot water bottles, which can be dropped off throughout October at the donation box, located next to the Customer Service Desk.

Nicola McFarlane, Community Development Worker at Polbeth Community Hub, said: “To be appointed The Centre, Livingston’s charity partner in October is fantastic for us as it provides an opportunity to tell even more people about the services we offer and also raise much-needed funds.

“It will also give us a chance to appeal to shoppers for donations of everything from hot water bottles and thermals to scarves and hats, to help us keep local people warm this winter.”

Ashley Bisland, Deputy Centre Director at The Centre, Livingston, said: “We are delighted to appoint Polbeth Community Hub as our charity partner in October and look forward to helping them to spread the word about the fantastic work they are doing in the community.”
