Poland dismisses Eurocorps commander due to security concerns.

Poland has taken the decision to dismiss the Polish commander of the European rapid reaction military unit, the Eurocorps, following the initiation of a military counterintelligence investigation involving him. The Polish Defense Ministry released a statement confirming that new information had come to light regarding Lt. Gen. Jaroslaw R. Gromadzinski, prompting the launch of an investigation into his security clearance.

Lt. Gen. Gromadzinski has been recalled from the Eurocorps' headquarters in Strasbourg, France, and a replacement will be appointed promptly, as per the ministry's directive. The specifics of the investigation were not disclosed, and Lt. Gen. Gromadzinski was not reachable for comment at the time of the announcement.

The Eurocorps, established in 1992 by Germany and France, serves to assist various European Union and NATO missions. In addition to Poland, the corps' framework nations include Belgium, Spain, and Luxembourg. Associate nations of the Eurocorps consist of Austria, Greece, Italy, Romania, and Turkey.

Over the years, the Eurocorps has been involved in stabilization and security missions in regions such as the Balkans and Afghanistan. The unit has also participated in training missions across Africa, showcasing its commitment to supporting international peacekeeping efforts.
