A new-build property dubbed ' Peppa Pig's house ' has been ridiculed after hitting the market for for nearly half a million pounds.
Complaints have been made online about the 'poky' Nottingham pad and it's been likened to the home of the popular cartoon character.
The four-bedroom detached house, on the Blacksmith’s Green development in Ruddington, is on the market with a guide price of £429,995.
Developers Linden Homes said buyers have been “attracted to this desirable location", NottinghamLive report.
It comes as house prices in the UK fell at their biggest rate in more than two years in November, according to Nationwide.
The average house price fell by 1.4% month on month in November – the biggest drop since June 2020.
A picture of the for-sale house, which is billed as the the last one available at the site, was recently posted on the Newbuild Hate Twitter account - and it attracted scores of negative comments.
One twitter user said: “Absolutely NOT worth half a million. Whoever valued that is ridiculous.”
Other complaints included the so-described “small” windows, the alleged lack of pavements and the back garden which did not have grass in the picture on the online ad.
A spokesperson for the Newbuild Hate Twitter account - which describes itself as providing pictures and commentary on new-build houses - said Linden Homes were "trying to flog to the public the house from Peppa Pig for such an obscene price".
“People aren't putting up with windows the size of crisp packets and poky box rooms, so are turning their backs on new-builds.” The spokesperson criticised the “stupid” price of the property. Linden Homes is part of Vistry Group.
In response to the criticism, a Vistry Group spokesperson said: “Blacksmith’s Green has been incredibly popular, with most of the properties sold at the development within a year.
“Buyers have been attracted to this very desirable location which combines village life with easy access to Nottingham city centre, just six miles away. The quality of the properties which we are building has also been a significant factor in the brisk sales we have seen.
“The fact we have been rated a five-star housebuilder is a reflection of the quality of our build and our exceptional customer service.”
The online advert for the house states: “This superb detached family home is the last remaining available at Linden Homes exclusive Blacksmith’s Green development. Plot 30 will be ready for a Christmas move in.”
The development off Flawforth Lane adds to several other new-build estates in the area. As work progressed on the site last year, neighbours said the countryside was disappearing right in front of their eyes.
