'Pokémon' Fans Want Customizable Homes, Secret Bases, Better Camping Features in 'Winds and Waves'

"Pokémon" fans are once again sharing ideas for features they hope to see in future games, and one request continues to stand out: customizable homes.

A recent Reddit discussion revealed that many players want more personalized spaces where they can decorate, relax with their Pokémon, and make their adventure feel more immersive.

Fans pointed to the dorm room in "Pokémon Scarlet and Violet" and the hotel room featured in "Pokémon Legends: Z-A" as examples of missed opportunities. While these locations play a role in the story, players say they offer little interaction and almost no customization.

That might change in "Pokemon Winds and Waves."

Players Want a Home Base That Feels Personal

Many fans believe future "Pokémon" games should include a customizable home base instead of a simple room with limited functionality. Ideas range from apartments and cabins to campsites and classic Secret Bases.

Players want to decorate their living space with furniture, posters, wallpapers, and trophies collected throughout their journey. "Some also suggested adding useful features, including healing stations, wardrobe customization, and storage for items.

Another popular request is the ability to let a favorite Pokémon roam freely inside the home. Fans believe this would strengthen the bond between trainers and their Pokémon while making the space feel more alive.

Interactive objects such as televisions showing regional news, refrigerators stocked with cooking ingredients, and Rotomi terminals for managing Pokémon and inventory were also suggested.

Camping Could Become a Bigger Part of Pokémon Games

Camping mechanics generated plenty of discussion as well. Although recent titles introduced picnics and campsites, many players feel the feature has yet to reach its full potential.

Fans would like Pokémon to interact naturally by sleeping, playing together, exploring the campsite, and reacting to their surroundings.

Additional activities such as cooking meals, growing berries, planting vegetables, and attracting wild Pokémon could transform camping into a meaningful gameplay feature rather than a short break between battles.

Some players compared their ideal camping experience to the Pokémon anime, where spending time with Pokémon during long journeys was an important part of the adventure.

Secret Bases Remain One of the Franchise's Most Requested Features

For many longtime fans, Secret Bases remain one of the best side activities ever introduced in the Pokémon series. Originally featured in "Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire," the feature allowed players to create personalized hideouts throughout the region.

With modern open-world environments, fans believe Secret Bases could return in a much bigger way. Some even proposed mobile homes, such as customizable boats or traveling camps that could serve as portable headquarters during exploration.

Others compared their vision to cozy simulation games, where decorating a home and spending time with companions becomes just as rewarding as progressing through the main story.

Fans Want More Ways to Connect With Their Pokémon

While many players agree that gameplay improvements and world exploration should remain Game Freak's top priorities, customizable homes continue to rank among the community's most requested features.

It will be a heaven for players who love designing to see camping, Secret Bases, and home customization in one game.
