ANTI-monarchy groups are set to protest in Edinburgh during King Charles’s “mini coronation” on Wednesday.
Protesters from UK-wide group Republic are preparing to turnout in the capital after members of the group were wrongly arrested during the official coronation ceremony in May.
The “thanksgiving” ceremony at St Giles’ Cathedral will see King Charles presented with the Honours of Scotland.
However, on Monday he will also receive a £22,000 ceremonial sword paid for by the taxpayer.
Republic is also collaborating with Scottish republican group Our Republic, who will be staging a rally at the Scottish Parliament.
Republic's team will be on the Royal Mile near St Giles’ Cathedral from around 8am and protesters are expected to start arriving around 10:30am.
Speaking for Republic, Graham Smith said: "We will not be deterred from protesting by the arrests at the coronation and will continue to make the voices of millions of republicans heard around the UK.
"This pointless vanity parade in Edinburgh will cost Scottish taxpayers millions of pounds, and for what? So Charles can once again be centre of attention for a day.
"Everyone in the UK should have the right to choose our head of state - not be told it will be Charles. Charles does not represent the people of Scotland any more than he represents the rest of the UK.
"Fewer than 10% of people in Britain were enthusiastic about the coronation. It's unlikely Scots will be that interested in another pointless parade.
"Shouldn't we instead be celebrating ordinary people, people who have achieved something, and the power of people to govern ourselves and shape our own lives?”
It comes after the Scottish Government confirmed that it would be footing the bill for the event.
