Point guard position still listed as biggest hole in Bulls lineup

The Chicago Bulls made moves this summer. They may not have been the moves fans wanted to see them make, but they were active nonetheless. Chicago brought in Jevon Carter and Torrey Craig in free agency and re-signed Nikola Vucevic, Coby White, and Ayo Dosunmu.

Unfortunately, the Bulls still project to be a team fighting for a spot in the Play-In Tournament, and some predictions even have them falling short of that mark. Ever since Lonzo Ball went down with an injury, the Bulls have been seeking answers at the point guard position, and while Carter is a nice player, they still aren’t set.

According to Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report, the Bulls’ hole at point guard is one of the biggest holes of any team in the NBA.

“But those players aren’t Ball,” Buckley said of Chicago’s current point guard options. “And until proven otherwise, all evidence suggests this club can’t climb out of the Association’s middle class without its hobbled lead guard.

“If the Bulls can’t find a floor general—internally or otherwise—soon, this core could crumble. DeMar DeRozan is on the final season of his contract, and Zach LaVine has seen his name bounce around the trade rumor mill already. If Ball’s absence continues to hover over this team, major moves are almost certainly on the horizon.”

Carter, White, and Dosunmu will all fight for the starting point guard spot in Chicago, but none will be able to replace what Ball brings to the table.

And until they find a legitimate answer (or Ball eventually returns), the Bulls will likely continue to struggle.
