Manchester United will be looking to secure their first Premier League win of 2022 when they travel to the Brentford Community Stadium to face Brentford on Wednesday evening.
United — who faced the Bees in pre-season, playing out a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford — will be hoping to bounce back from Saturday's gut-wrenching 2-2 draw with Aston Villa, in which they squandered a two-goal lead with less than 15 minutes remaining.
That setback denied United the opportunity to move to within three points of the top-four, with West Ham losing to Leeds United on Sunday and Arsenal's trip to arch rivals Tottenham Hotspur being postponed due to a Covid otubreak.
But United have the chance to move within two points of West Ham, who visit Old Trafford on Saturday, against Brentford, with Ralf Rangnick's side keen to put things right after their collapse at Villa.
With the fixtures continuing to come thick and fast, Rangnick is going to need as many options available to him as possible.
With that in mind, here is a round-up of all the very latest United injury and team news ahead of the trip to the west London:
Aaron Wan-Bissaka
The right-back was ruled out of Saturday's clash with Villa through illness. Rangnick did not mention him in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday lunchtime, meaning it remains to be seen if he will make the cut against Brentford.
Expected return date: January 19.
Paul Pogba
Pictured back in training on Monday for the first time since suffering a thigh injury back in November, Pogba will be unavailable for United's upcoming clashes with Brentford and West Ham, Rangnick has confirmed.
"Paul Pogba had his first day of training with the whole group yesterday and in the first training session he showed what an extraordinary player he could be," Rangnick said.
"He will not be available for the two games this week but hopefully after the international when we have the cup game against Middlesbrough and the away game against Burnley I think he could be an option."
Expected return date: February 4.
Marcus Rashford
Rangnick is optimistic that Rashford will be back available for United's trip to Brentford after missing the draw with Villa because of a dead leg.
The England international, who has struggled for form in recent weeks, trained on Monday and a late decision will be made on whether he can be included for Brentford.
Expected return date: January 19.
Cristiano Ronaldo
Ronaldo has not played for United since the 1-0 defeat to Wolves on January 3, meaning he missed the back-to-back clashes with Villa because of a muscle problem.
But as in Rashford's case, Ronaldo has since returned to training and Rangnick is hopeful that he will make the cut for the clash with Thomas Frank's side.
Rangnick said: "Cristiano and Marcus were training yesterday (Monday), so I suppose they will also be training today (Tuesday).
"But in the press conference before the Villa game I was also convinced Cristiano would be available and he wasn't, the same with Marcus.
"So we have to wait for the training session today in an hour's time. Right now, I think they both could be available."
Expected return date: January 19.
Others
Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay are back available for selection after serving one-match bans against Villa, while Harry Maguire will be looking to earn his place back in the starting line-up after being among the substitutes on Saturday.
