Tommy Tiernan would be open to chatting to RTE chiefs about hosting The Late Late Show but would only accept the role on one condition, according to his podcast co-host.
Laurita Blewitt, one third of the hugely popular Tommy, Hector & Laurita Podcast, was recently asked for her thoughts on speculation linking the stand-up comedian with the biggest television job in Ireland.
According to Laurita, Tommy would only agree to take over from Ryan Tubridy if RTE bosses agreed to give him full creative freedom over The Late Late Show.

In an interview with Independent.ie, Laurita said: "Tommy has said if he was given The Late Late and told to do whatever he wants with it, he would be happy enough to do it. But I don’t think that is the route of The Late Late Show."
In recent weeks, Claire Byrne and Sarah McInerney have exchanged bookmakers' favouritism in terms of taking over from Tubridy, who will leave RTE's flagship weekend programme after 14 years at the helm next month.
Tommy remains an outside shot, if bookies are to believed, likely due to the fact that RTE would be eager to keep the 53-year-old in situ on his unique Saturday night chat show, in which Tommy doesn't know the identity of his guests before they join him on stage.
Laurita suggested that the format of the traditional Late Late Show could potentially do with a shake-up and hinted that Tommy could well be the man for the job.
"[It] has never been the same since Gay Byrne did it," Laurita said of The Late Late Show.
"The Late Late now is very predictable, the guests are the same... Maybe they should change it up and if that is with Tommy, well, great, we would be delighted."
The Tommy, Hector & Laurita Podcast is set to take an extended break over the coming months as Tommy completes a lengthy stand-up tour, which will take him all over the world.
