'PM refuses to accept responsibility as Brits struggle to pay for fuel and food'

Britain is experiencing the worst fall in living standards for more than 70 years.

Families are struggling to pay their fuel bills and put food on their table.

The situation is so bad that police chiefs are warning of a crime spree as desperate parents steal to feed their children.

Boris Johnson accepted today that the poorest households were having to choose between heating and eating. What he refused to accept was responsibility.

It was his Government that cut Universal Credit, slashed benefits and raised taxes to their highest level since the Second World War.

When so many are below the breadline, you would think any Government would do everything in its power to alleviate their plight.

It is actually doing very little.

Only the Tories could be resigned to so many people living in hardship and only the Tories could be so unwilling to do anything about it.

Virus failure

Britain is now paying the price for the Government’s hasty decision to lift all Covid restrictions.

Hospitals across England have declared critical emergencies because high infection rates have left them struggling to cope with an increase in admissions and staff shortages.

The travel sector has also been affected, with airlines forced to cancel flights because so many crew members are off sick.

Boris Johnson appears to be in denial about the situation.

The Prime Minister once promised to do everything he could to control the pandemic but the latest figures show hundreds are still dying from the virus every day. People’s lives and livelihoods are at risk.
