NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday congratulated Avani Lekhara and Mona Agarwal for their achievements in the women's 10m air rifle final at the ongoing Paris Paralympics.
Avani, the reigning Paralympic champion, secured gold in the event, while Mona Agarwal clinched the bronze medal, marking a significant moment for India.

At the same event, shooter Mona claimed the bronze medal.
PM Modi expressed pride and congratulations on his official X handle, especially noting Lekhara's contribution to India's medal tally.
He also praised Mona for her performance and dedication, which resulted in the bronze medal win.
India has started the Paris Paralympics on a high with the two medals in the women’s 10m air rifle event.
From the start, Avani and Mona were in the top three positions, vying for the gold. Ultimately, Avani Lekhara secured the top spot with her personal best score of 249.7 points in the final.
South Korea’s Yunri Lee clinched the silver medal, finishing in second place with a score of 246.8 points. Mona, with a total score of 228.7 points, ended in third place to secure the bronze medal for India.
The final of the women’s 10m air rifle saw Lekhara dominating with her best-ever performance, while Mona's consistent performance earned her a well-deserved bronze.
