Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday spoke to Flydubai Captain Smit Machchhar, praising the Indian pilot for his courage and presence of mind during a mid-air cockpit attack that was thwarted after Machchhar managed to open the cockpit door despite being seriously injured.
During the video call, Machchhar recounted the ordeal and told Modi what gave him the courage to act. The pilot became emotional while speaking to the Prime Minister and recalled how he pushed himself to intervene despite his injuries.
