A Plymouth organisation that provides support services for deaf and disabled people has moved into a new office as it expands. Complete Communication has relocated to Plymouth Science Park on Davy Road.
The company, which was formed in 2019 from the rebrand and merger of two long-standing communication businesses, said the move would support its growth and "cement its future" as it continued to spread awareness of access and inclusion across the UK, from higher education settings, theatres, the community and in the workplace.
Within higher education settings, the company offers students a range of support, including electronic note-taking, British Sign Language (BSL) and English interpreting, and mentoring. In the workplace, it offers support through the government's Access to Work programme, which is aimed at helping deaf and disabled people take up and remain in work, as well as through professional supervision.
"The last academic year has seen exponential growth, taking on new clients and expanding the pool of support professionals," the company said.
Complete Communication said it also had an "incredible opportunity" to make theatre more accessible through BSL. The team works closely with theatres across the country to provide BSL and English interpretation of shows. So far, the business has interpreted several shows, including Gangsta Granny, Mamma Mia! The Musical and Treasure Island.
