A man whose boiler broke on Christmas Day has praised a plumber for opening his shop early to replace it. Julian Thomas said his family was left without hot water and heating on Sunday when he switched it on and heard a loud bang.
The 53-year-old from Pontardulais said he felt "over the moon" when he contacted City Plumbing Swansea Cwmdu and the manager, Liam Hancock, opened the store early just so he could buy a new boiler. Julian said: "I got up on Christmas morning and it felt a bit cold when I came downstairs, so I put the heating on, We heard a bit of a bang and the boiler had gone off and it was flashing. I did a few checks and the boiler was completely kaput. We had no heating or hot water.
"I looked on Facebook to see when City Plumbing in Swansea was open. I messaged the page on Boxing Day (Monday) asking when they will be back and Liam Hancock the branch manager messaged me straight back. He asked what we needed and that he would check if they had it in stock. I said my boiler has gone and we need a new one. He said he could open the shop up in the morning (Tuesday, December 27) and to let him know if we needed it sooner."
