Almost two months after Channel 10 announced they were pulling the plug on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! following 12 star-studded seasons, it’s been revealed that the reality show will be returning in 2027 on a brand new network.
Channel 7 confirmed on Wednesday that the series will be joining the network’s entertainment lineup next year, bringing “its signature mix of adventure, humour and high-stakes challenges to Seven’s audiences for the first time”.
Who will host I’m A Celebrity in 2027?
It’s yet to be revealed who will host the upcoming thirteenth season of I’m A Celebrity, although it’s unlikely Robert Irwin will be sticking with the show for a fourth season. Despite signing a deal with Channel 7 to host the 2026 Logie Awards next month, the conservationist and Dancing With The Stars champion announced on Sunday that he will be fronting Channel 10’s reboot of Australian Ninja Warrior next year.
Robert will be joined by longtime Channel 10 presenters Georgie Tunny and Beau Ryan on the reality show, which likely makes it impossible for him to host a series on a rival network.
“Stepping into a role like Australian Ninja Warrior is such an incredible adventure. I have been a fan of this show for a long time,” he said in a statement. “Whether you’re out in the bush or on the course, it’s that same spirit of enthusiasm and commitment that inspires me every day, and I can’t wait to cheer every competitor across the finish line.”
Meanwhile, there’s a good chance that OG host Dr Chris Brown could make his return to I’m A Celebrity, as he left Channel 10 to join Channel 7 in 2023 and currently presents a variety of shows on the network.
Julia Morris, on the other hand, has hosted the series since it launched in 2015 and recently received her fifth Gold Logie nomination for her work on the series. The veteran TV host admitted on Stellar’s Something To Talk About podcast earlier this month that she was hopeful the reality show would return in the future, regardless of her involvement.
“I hope it comes back, with or without us,” she shared. “It’s given me and the audiences lots and lots of joy, and we don’t get enough joy.”
What else do we know about the I’m A Celebrity reboot?
Southern Cross Media Group’s Managing Director, Television and Streaming, Angus Ross, said in a statement that Channel 7 is “incredibly excited” to welcome “one of the world’s most recognisable entertainment formats” to the network in 2027.
“This is a proven franchise with a passionate fan base and we look forward to bringing our own fresh energy and ambition to its next chapter,” he said.
David Mott, the CEO and Managing Director of I’m A Celebrity’s production company ITV Studios Australia, also said he was excited to “unleash the next massive evolution of I’m A Celebrity”, teasing potential format changes.
“For over ten years, Australian audiences have loved this iconic show, and with terrifying trials, hilarious camp drama and heartfelt celebrity revelations, ITV Studios Australia is ready to deliver a brand-new era for the Jungle,” he added.
The announcement comes after it was confirmed that an all-star season of I’m A Celebrity was being planned for 2027 before it was axed on Channel 10, so stay tuned to see if Channel 7 sticks with the idea or welcomes a whole new bunch of mid-tier stars to the jungle.
