Liverpool City Council has issued a plea to football fans after they have seen a 'large amount' of young children who have been burned when handling flares.
The council asked fans celebrating Liverpool FC's trophy parade to not give flares to young children after they have seen a 'large amount' of kids being burned by handling the flammable items. The council issued the plea on behalf of the Merseyside branch of St John's Ambulance, who have been treating the cases.
In a post on Twitter the council said: "[St John's Ambulance] are dealing with a large amount of burns to young children as a result of handling flares.

"We want people to enjoy the parade safely - please don’t give children flammable items."
Liverpool City Council helped to organise the Liverpool FC victory parade after the Reds won both domestic cups this season. Liverpool FC's women's team also accompanied their male counterparts, celebrating their promotion back to the top-flight of women's domestic football.
