PlayStation State of Play returned today, Sept. 3, with Sony doing things a little differently this time and running two broadcasts back-to-back. The regular State of Play started at 6 am PT, followed immediately by another State of Play Japan focused on developers from Japan and elsewhere in Asia.
The first show featured new announcements and updates from PlayStation Studios and third-party developers, while State of Play Japan was once again hosted by Yuki Kaji and had its own reveals and gameplay deep dives.
Only one game was confirmed before the show: Final Fantasy VII Revelation. Square Enix closed the first State of Play with an extended look at the final game in its Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy, following another trailer at gamescom Opening Night Live last week. We also saw new trailers for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, Until Dawn 2, Metro 2039, as well as new announcements like Rhapsody in Scarlet and Maneater 2.
