Sony is the first publisher to kick off the sudo-E3 game announcement Summer with its State of Play on June 2.
This year’s second State of Play focused on upcoming PlayStation 5 games from a mix of first and third-party developers and publishers, with such highlights as Marvel’s Wolverine, Until Dawn 2, and Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve.
During the February 12 State of Play, Sony ended the show with a surprise announcement of the God of War trilogy remakes, as well as a hint of a new game in the series. Today, we got a first look at God of War: Laufey, the newest entry in the series featuring Laufey, Kratos’ late wife. We saw twenty minutes of uninterrupted gameplay in the story that happens directly after Laufey’s pyre is done burning at the beginning of the original Norse Saga game.
Some additional hype releases were Kemuri: Hunt the Unseen, Ikumi Nakamura’s colorful action game, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a ground-up remake of the original Tomb Raider with new visuals, No Rest for the Wicked’s console release, and Stuntman Hollywood, a revival of the old series with a plethora of movie cameos and references.
Additionally, Ubisoft presented Rayman Legends Retold, a remake of 2013’s Rayman Legends. This is not the way many hoped for Rayman to come back, but any new development in this series is a welcome development.
