Sony’s new PlayStation Stars loyalty program is available across all markets now and Hit Play/1994 is one of the first campaigns you need to complete for rewards. Here’s what you have to do.
PlayStation Stars launched last week in the US, and it’s rolling out to European and Australian users today. It allows PlayStation owners to complete challenges called campaigns, earning them points they can exchange for games and add-ons, similar to Microsoft Rewards on Xbox.
Points can be redeemed for digital collectibles too, which also drop as rewards in many campaigns. Each digital item is assigned a rarity rating and players can show off their rarest trinkets in a new display case on their PSN profile on mobile.
You can sign up for the rewards program for free via the PS App on iOS and Android devices and start earning points and collectibles right away. No PlayStation Plus subscription is required, but PS Plus members earn additional points for every purchase they make on the PS Store.
PlayStation Stars Hit Play 1994 campaign
One of the first PlayStation Stars campaigns that launched with the program is called Hit Play 1994, and it rewards you with a digital version of the iconic Sony Chord Machine portable boombox from the ‘80s.
To complete the Hit Play 1994 campaign, you need to launch six games on your PlayStation console that match the titles of a bunch of hit songs from around 1994 listed in the challenge. Here are the songs:
- Stay x Circle of Life
- Baby I Love Your Way x Go West
- Mr. Jones and Regulate
- More Human than Human
- Wild Night
- Streets of Philadelphia

Here are the six games you need to launch on your PS console to complete the Hit Play 1994 challenge:

You can start the games in any order and on any PS console, as long as it’s logged into the same PSN account you used to join the program on your phone. Launching some of the games via PS Plus Premium streaming also counts toward completing the campaign.
All games are part of the PS Plus Extra tier, and some, like Uncharted 4, Detroit and Until Down, have been included in the PS Plus Collection for PS5 owners, available to PS Plus Essential subscribers too. So, if you’re already a PS Plus member, completing the campaign should be a breeze, and it won’t hit you in the wallet.
Now you know how to grab the first ever Heroic-rarity collectible in PlayStation Stars. You have until Nov. 15, 2022, to get the Sony Chord Machine, as that’s when the challenge ends.
