Player grades: Bulls lose third-straight as they fall to Pelicans

The Chicago Bulls fell to the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday night, 124-110, losing their third-straight game and falling to 6-9 on the season.

Chicago played well in the first half, as New Orleans only held a five-point lead after the first 24 minutes of play. But, that changed in the third quarter.

In the third, New Orleans outscored Chicago 37-25, stretching their lead out to 17 heading into the fourth quarter.

Zach LaVine scored 14 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter, yet the Bulls as a whole couldn’t catch up to the Pelicans, ending up in their third-straight loss.

DeMar DeRozan led the way for the Bulls with 28 points, four rebounds, and seven assists on 11-of-15 shooting from the field and 6-of-7 from the free throw line.

Zach LaVine added 25 points along with three rebounds and five assists.

Check out the player grades from the Bull’s third loss in a row below.

DeMar DeRozan: A-

DeMar DeRozan was crisp and efficient on Wednesday, finishing with 28 points, four rebounds, and seven assists on 11-of-15 shooting from the field and 6-of-7 from the free throw line. At 6-9 and losing three-straight, the Bulls are on a downward spiral that could be wasting another great DeRozan season.

Zach LaVine: B

Zach LaVine finished with 25 points, three rebounds, and five assists in Wednesday’s loss on 9-of-22 shooting. LaVine’s knee hasn’t been an issue over the last handful of games as he’s looked to be near 100%, yet that hasn’t helped the Bulls in their last few games.

Nikola Vucevic: B-

Nikola Vucevic finished with a quiet double-double on Wednesday, finishing with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Vooch struggled on the defensive end as Jonas Valanciunas got whatever he wanted on the offensive end, scoring 22 points on 8-of-13 shooting.

Ayo Dosunmu: C

Ayo Dosunmu was quiet on Wednesday, finishing with four points, three rebounds, one assist, and one steal in Chicago’s loss to New Orleans. Dosunmu has been pretty steady on the defensive end so far this season, yet has been inconsistent on the offensive end of the floor.

Patrick Williams: C+

Patrick Williams finished with five points and four rebounds in Wednesday’s loss against the Pelicans. Williams was pretty non-existent on the offensive end but he defended Brandon Ingram well, forcing him to shoot just 4-of-15 from the floor.

Alec Caruso: A-

Alex Caruso had his most productive scoring game of the season, scoring a season-high 13 points, two rebounds, and two assists on 5-of-7 shooting from the field and 3-of-4 from downtown. Caruso’s shooting has been down to start the season, yet still makes a positive impact in other areas.

Goran Dragic: B

Goran Dragic finished with six points, two rebounds, and seven assists on Wednesday in 20 minutes off the bench. Dragic has consistently come in alongside Alex Caruso off the bench and played well in his playmaking reserve role.

Andre Drummond: B-

Andre Drummond scored eight points and grabbed four rebounds in just 15 minutes off the bench in Wednesday’s loss. Drummond has played well in his role so far this season and if a Vucevic trade comes down the pipeline before the deadline, could see his minutes increase.
