PLATINUM Jubilee event organisers have been left red-faced in Scotland after social media posts revealed dismal turnouts across the country.
Although Glasgow City Council faced criticism from some after refusing to spend cash on jubilee celebrations, images released on Twitter have shown the poor attendance at events.
Beacon lightings were held all cross the UK in honour of Queen Elizabeth – but there seemed to be a distinct lack of people at Strathclyde Park.
Two men & a dug turn up to see lighting of beacon at Strathclyde Park. What a waste of effort. Considering that there were police that could have been out doing their jobs, First aiders,Marshalls, & Ice-cream vans all stood down. In Perth meanwhile, the celebrations were being broadcast on a big screen in the city centre ... once again, it seems very few people showed.
Perthshire was also meant to host a 5k Platinum Jubilee Run on Saturday but organisers were forced to cancel after a low number of sign-ups.

Tory MSP Liam Kerr was mocked on Twitter for posting some images from a beacon lighting with the caption: "Huge turnout at #DunottarCastle #Stonehaven to see the #PlatinumJubilee beacon lit. Wonderful occasion."
However, the main image he posted only showed two people – one of whom was Kerr himself.

Sooz Kempner replied: “Were they all....behind the fire?
Another added: "Struggling to see the turnout. Could you zoom in and repost?"
Elsewhere, Aberdeen's tribute to the Queen was witnessed by very few people as the Town Sergeant announced the beacon lighting with almost no audience.

And finally, ex-Scottish Conservative leader and now Baroness Ruth Davidson posted an image on her Twitter showing yet another below-par turnout at a beacon lighting in North Berwick.
