Plans to turn a storage unit in Paisley into a women’s personal training studio have been submitted to Renfrewshire Council.
Fitness guru Ryan Atkin wants to use a future Covault unit in McFarlane Street as a space for private classes for clients.
The facility would have a specific “focus on improving the health and fitness” of the people who plan to use it.
It would not be open to the general public, meaning there would be no walk-ins. Sessions would instead be booked, organised and paid for in advance.
If given the go ahead, the unit is set to be open on specific days and at limited times – expected to be no more than three hours per day from Monday to Thursday.
In a supporting statement for the application, Mr Atkin said: “I’ve been personal training in numerous gyms locally across Renfrewshire and online coaching for the past six years.
“My main focus has been on empowering women to live a happier, healthier lifestyle.
“My clients have featured in numerous health and wellbeing magazines, such as Woman’s Weekly, Healthista TV, iNews and more.
“I take my pride in my work and only work with a limited number of clients at any one time.
“This is why I wanted to emphasise that the facility is fully private and no one can simply turn up to the facility unannounced, they have to apply to work with myself way in advance.”
The site has been designated two car parking spaces.
However, more parking would be available at the nearby Covault in Clark Street. Any noise coming from the unit is expected to be “negligible”, according to the supporting statement.
Mr Atkin added that he hoped to help more people in Renfrewshire “live healthier, fitter and happier”.
Renfrewshire Council has not yet made a decision on the application.
