An Edinburgh Tesco and its surrounding buildings could be torn down to make way for a huge new residential development.
Plans have been submitted to the City of Edinburgh Council and were detailed this week, with the proposed site sitting on Niddrie Mains Road.
Located in the east of the city, the proposals included both a site plan and application for the construction works, that spans over the land just north of 82 Niddrie Mains Road.

Currently containing a number of occupied and vacant single storey retail units, the plans hope to remove the buildings, and partly rebuild them.
Including the likes of the Tesco store in Niddrie, the works would also remove the William Hill betting shop, and a selection of takeaway restaurants.

In its place, plans have detailed that 110 new residential units would be created, mainly composed of flats, that would sit above a selection of new ground floor business and leisure units.
A decision from the council is yet to be given, however a description of the proposals reads:
"Removal of existing partly vacant retail parade and new build development of circa 110 residential units over ground floor retail business and leisure units (Use Classes 1, 2, 3 and 4).
"Land 20 Metres North Of 82 Niddrie Mains Road Craigmillar Edinburgh."
