Plans to return Tynemouth outdoor pool to its former glory have now garnered support from almost 10,500 miles away in Australia.

The Mayor of Sydney's Waverley Council, Paula Masselos has urged North Tyneside Council to consider the benefits a functioning outdoor pool would bring to Tynemouth and the wider region.

Mayor Masselos drew comparisons between the plans and the outdoor Icebergs pools on Bondi Beach, which the mayor states are vital parts of the community she serves.
