A "dilapidated" farm shed will be restored into a family home despite council planners belief it should be refused.
Officers said that the plans for the redundant building on Low Hall Farmhouse in Haydon Bridge would cause "less than substantial harm" to the village's conservation area - but that this harm would not be outweighed by public benefit due to the fact it would be a private dwelling.
The plan would see the building increase in height by two metres to create a two-storey, three bedroom property. Officers said the conservation area character appraisal had identified the farmstead as a "landmark group of buildings" and altering the height in this way would have a significant impact on its profile.
