Proposals to turn a Cardiff charity shop into a restaurant and a controversial application for 45 new homes in the north east of the city have been approved. Plans to turn the upper floors of a popular pub in Roath into student accommodation have also been revealed.
These are just some of the applications that have been made to and decided by Cardiff Council over the past couple of weeks. Here is the most recent round up of stand out planning applications for Cardiff.

City centre
An application has been put to the council to turn garages and a forecourt situated next to a Cardiff nightclub into two units for the sale of food and drink. The change of use application relates to the Nickel Yard, next door to Metros off Bakers Row.
Roath
A restaurant and takeaway on Albany Road has applied to extend its opening hours. Chai Green, which is on the site of former tanning salon Golden Tanning and Beauty, has applied for the opening hours to extend from 11am - 11.30 to 11am - 2am.
Another application relating to Roath is proposing to turn the upper floors of a popular pub into students accommodation. An application has been made to Cardiff Council to turn the upper floors of the Royal George on Mackintosh Place into 12 student accommodation studios and one manager's flat. If the application is approved, the existing pub will be retained as a pub.
Adamsdown
A property currently used as a charity shop is set to be turned into a restaurant and takeaway. Number 130 on Clifton Street, currently occupied by City Hospice, will eventually turn into a restaurant after a change of use application was approved by Cardiff Council.
A design statement attached to the planning application states that a change of use application was made due to the demand for use of properties in the area as restaurants, cafes and takeaways.
Creigiau
Electrical vehicle charging points will be installed at a service station on the outskirts of Cardiff. An application for the installation of five electrical vehicle charging points for Cardiff West Services near Creigiau has been approved.
Pontprennau
Plans to build 45 new affordable homes on land north of Ty Draw Road have been approved. Also part of the application is a controversial plan to demolish number 43 Clos Nant Glaswg to make way for the construction of a new pedestrian footpath and cycle way.
