Plans have been revealed to turn a former Methodist church in Barry into affordable flats. Crossway Methodist Church on the junction of Crossways Street and Court Road had its last service in March 2022 after having served the community for about 60 years.
If approved, the development will provide 15 single bedroom flats. A report attached to the planning application says that there will be minimal change to the scale of the existing building. The main change to the outside of the building will consist of an additional entrance on Crossways Street, which will allow access to two of the flats.
There will also be more windows added to the building. A planning and design statement from planning and development consultants, Asbri Planning, states: "The layout of the flats within the building has been carefully considered to ensure there is no detrimental impact towards the privacy and amenity of existing residential properties adjoining and surrounding the site.
