Plans have been put forward to create an assisted living facility in place of a much-loved community centre. The "disposal" of the Sneinton Hermitage Community Centre on Hermitage Walk was approved by the city council on November 5th and plans for an assisted living facility were put forward on March 18, 2022.
The Sneinton Hermitage Centre, on Hermitage Walk, has now closed with its facilities being moved a new community centre - which is yet to open. The proposed facility has been designed as self-contained one bed apartments for Supported Living and has the support of the Lead Commissioner at the council, with a lot of demand from local citizens.

In a report from the site developers, Hockley Developments LTD, they say: "Sneinton, like many areas of Nottingham, is an area of high demand for Supported Living due to the local amenities and the proximity to the city centre; there are several citizens who are waiting for this type of accommodation in this area." Tenants will be supported 24 hours a day and for the majority of this time it is anticipated that this will be with onsite staff support.
While the Sneinton Hermitage Community Centre is no more, plans are also being discussed for a new community centre which will be located where the old Sneinton library was on Sneinton Boulevard.
