Plans in place for new safety measures at Prudhoe riverside following tragic death of teenager

Plans are in place for a range of new safety measures along the River Tyne following the tragic death of 13-year-old Robert Hattersley last month.

The Crawcrook teenager got into difficulty while swimming in the Tyne near Prudhoe and Ovingham with friends in July. Robert was pulled in by strong currents and those with him were unable to save him.

Now Coun Angie Scott, who represents Prudhoe North and is Northumberland County Council's shadow cabinet member for children's services, has revealed the new safety measure plans.
