A new micro pub aiming to be a 'social hub' could set up in a Nottinghamshire village. A shut shop on Lawrence Avenue in Awsworth could re-open as the new pub, if plans are approved by Broxtowe Borough Council.
The property was previously occupied by Acton Locksmiths Services. Under the plans the bar would be complimented by a new inside seating area, replacing the empty shop front.
The small pub would serve guest ales, lager, cider, wine and spirits along with gluten free and vegan options. The potential operators are looking for permission to open from 12pm to 10pm.

A statement from Forty Bridges Inn, who are looking to open the business, said: "Our mission is to create a social hub for the local community to meet and socialise. We shall be providing guest ales, lager, cider, wine and spirits along with other selections such as gluten free and vegan options, soft drinks and anything the local community request.
"There is nowhere that provides the top of Awsworth with a place to meet and drink and with a lot of our friends and family living in the area we have all noticed the lack of places to socialise. Our main customer focus will be for the local village and its population, for people wanting to socialise after work so they don’t have to then drive home and local groups to hold social events such as the local football club and walking clubs.
"We will be focussing on being a quiet relaxing place to socialise with some background music but mainly chatting from the local community set in a rustic setting with odes to the old Forty Bridges viaduct." The pub would be owned by applicant Andrew Gallagher, from Ilkeston, and Steven Morris, from Awsworth.
Catherine Lounds, former Landlady of The Sherwin Arms in Bramcote, would work at the new pub according to planning documents. The planning application is pending consideration by Broxtowe Borough Council.
