Plans for new Edinburgh hotel gets the green light to replace 'outdated' office building

Plans for a new hotel in Edinburgh have been given the green light and construction is set to start next year.

The new hotel will be made up of nine storeys and around 197 rooms in the Haymarket area, with plans to knock down unused offices.

The approved planning application, granted subject to conditions, includes the demolition of the low-rise and outdated Elgin House office building, which lies close to Haymarket Station and the tram link, and the construction of a sustainable mixed-use development.
