A new dog day care centre is being lined up for an industrial park in Fazakerley.
A planning application has been lodged with Liverpool Council for a conversion of an existing unit on Brookfield Drive to become the new home of Sid’s Place Doggy Day Care. The currently empty unit in north Liverpool would undergo a series of changes to accommodate the business including a new shop front and security shutters.
The venture is seeking to open subject to local authority sign off on the plans which were received last month.

An application form submitted to Liverpool Council said a series of works were proposed for the unit on Brookfield Drive, including a new shop front, security shutters, external doors to the rear and flagstone to provide safe access. Should the city council’s planning department give the go-ahead, the day care centre would open from 7am to 6pm from Monday to Friday.
According to its website, Sid’s Place will seek to “help build a dog’s confidence by providing opportunities for socialisation with other dogs and humans, as well as offering mental and physical stimulation through various activities.” The company behind the application was formed in March this year.
The website said the new business would “provide a stimulating and supervised environment for dogs, which can help eliminate owner-absent behaviour problems such as separation anxiety and destructive chewing.” Guidelines for prospective patrons have also been set out about ensuring all pets attend wearing a lead or harness.
If signed off, it would become the latest in a long line of new dog day care centres being established across Liverpool and the wider city region. It is expected no planned changes to vehicle access or parking facilities on site would be made and there is currently no existing tenant in the unit.
The application is currently out for consultation for interested parties to comment on the proposals. It is not known when a decision is to be made by Liverpool Council’s planning department.
The deadline for comments on the application is July 26 and can be completed online via the city council website.
