Plans for new Arnold convenience store approved

Plans for a new convenience store at a former haulage site in Arnold have been given the go-ahead. The shop will be built in Greendale Road, Arnold, on land which forms the garden of a detached house.

Previously planning permission has been granted for a succession of housing schemes dating back to 2015, starting with proposals to demolish the existing property and build new homes. However none of the plans were ever implemented.

The shop will have a 13-space car park, including one disabled bay and one parent and child space. A new access for vehicles will be created from Arno Vale Road.

The proposals got the green light from Gedling Borough Council despite concerns from neighbours. Fears about increased traffic, congestion and pedestrian safety were raised, especially as there's a number of schools nearby.

Residents were also concerned about noise and anti-social behaviour. Deliveries will only be allowed between 9.30am and 3pm and 4pm to 6pm, from Monday to Saturday.
