Plans to build more than 100 houses in Merthyr Tydfil have been put on hold. The application for 121 houses on land off Elm Tree Grove in Twynyrodyn is went before the council’s planning committee on Wednesday, August 24 but councillors voted to defer it to another meeting so they can have a chance to read some related. documents.
Councillor Clive Jones suggested they defer the matter because he and he suspected many other committee members hadn’t had the chance to read the investigation report, drainage strategy report, air quality assessments and transport assessments. Under the plans from Persimmon Homes, there would be 12 affordable homes included in the development from Persimmon Homes and it would be made up of one to five-bedroom detached, semi-detached and terraced properties.
The the initial proposal was for 131 houses but this has since been reduced to 121. The majority of the houses would be two-storey, with 15 being three-storey town houses and each would have at least two parking spaces on driveways and some would include a detached garage. A new access road would be built with a junction on to Elm Tree Grove and an area of open green space in the northern part of the site would include climbing boulders, balancing logs and grassed mounds.
