PROPOSALS for a new whisky storage and warehousing development in Glenrothes – complete with bottling, cooperage and office facilities – are set to go out for public consultation.
The Glenrothes development at Southfield Industrial Estate – brought forward by Scottish Whisky Investments (SWI) – would see the building of a new corporate headquarters in Falkland, with restaurants, a museum, serviced accommodation and other community facilities, and form just part of a multi-million-pound investment in Fife.
SWI is involved in the whisky asset management sector and is licensed to offer financial investment products in the form of bottles and casks of single malt Scotch whisky.
A planning application for a Scotch whisky storage and bottling facility was previously submitted to Fife Council in March.
The initial plans included just four whisky storage warehouses, but the international business is now planning to expand the proposal to deliver a whopping 24 warehouses.
An online consultation on the Glenrothes proposals is open-to-all and will take place between 3pm and 8pm on Tuesday August 9, through Microsoft Teams.
A second in-person public consultation will be held on Tuesday, September 6, between 4.30pm-7.30pm, at Glenrothes Golf Club, Golf Course Road, KY6 2LA Glenrothes.
