Plans for Lanarkshire community hub will not need environmental assessment

Plans for a proposed community hub building in Bellshill will not need to be subjected to an environmental impact assessment, it has been decided.

The building, which is planned for construction on a site in Liberty Road, Orbiston, would feature teaching facilities, community spaces, a full size 3G sports pitch.

Project consultants Keppie Design requested an opinion on the necessity of an environmental impact assessment and North Lanarkshire Council planning manager Lorna Bowden's response has now been published on the local authority's website.

In the response Ms Bowden states: "The proposed development is not located on or adjacent to a sensitive area and is unlikely to have significant effects on the environment given the characteristics of the development, location of development and characteristics of potential impact."

The document can be found on the council website under reference number 22/00549/EIASCR.
