Neighbours have welcomed a plan for a closed down business to become housing. A vacant fabric warehouse in Basford Road, Basford, will be converted into 14 assisted living apartments if plans are approved by Nottingham City Council.
The building would be retained in its entirety with works undertaken to restore and re-instate original features to "promote residential community within the area". The developers have said there is sufficient parking to accommodate the prospective tenants and that nearby highways would be unaffected.
The former Baptist Sunday school has been vacant for at least three months, according to planning documents. Locals said they approved of the plan.

David Bullous, 71, a carer from Basford, said: "I think it is a good idea, there's never any noise from there, never any problems. It would not be a problem if it was done like that."
"Parking does become a problem around here though. There's still been people coming and going, delivering to the building."
Winsome Wynter, 70, a charity volunteer from Basford, said: "I think it would be good for the area - if it's helping people who need the help and to be assisted"
"Personally I don't have a problem with parking as I have a space. But people on the other side of the road may struggle."
Existing openings within the building's façade will be restored by removing infilling red brick masonry and installing new glazing. The developers have said this will be done in a "sensitive" manner.
Another Basford resident, who did not want to be named, said: "I would rather them do that with it than leave it empty. There are a lot of buildings turning into flats, but I suppose there is a demand for it all."
The plan has been submitted by ARC Design Studio. The planning application is pending consideration by Nottingham City Council.
