
Tragedy struck Haneda Airport in Tokyo, Japan, as a Japan Airlines plane carrying 367 passengers and 12 crew members crashed into a Japan Coast Guard aircraft during landing. The incident took place on one of the busiest travel days, as people were returning home after the holiday weekend. The Japan Coast Guard aircraft was set to take off from Haneda Airport to aid in the ongoing hurricane relief efforts.
The collision occurred shortly before 6:00 PM local time, or 4:00 AM Eastern time, and resulted in a fiery and violent scene. Eyewitnesses on the plane reported seeing the engine on fire, which led to panic inside the cabin. Passengers took to social media to share their harrowing experience, describing the screams and the fear that gripped them as they realized something was horribly wrong.
