Plan to extend Aldi supermarket at Castle Retail Park in Radford

Plans have been submitted to extend an Aldi supermarket in Nottingham. The changes are planned for the Aldi store at the Castle Retail Park in Radford Boulevard.

The proposals, submitted to Nottingham City Council, would see a side extension at the store, along with associated alterations to the front, side and rear elevations. There are no wider changes to the layout of the site which will affect access, servicing or customer car parking, according to planning documents.

A statement in the application to the council states: "The application is made in order to bring the unit into line with Aldi’s modern space requirements, which have increased since this site was originally occupied in February 1992, as a result of changing consumer demand and increased product ranges.

"The proposed development will create a larger building capable of accommodating a larger retail operation at the Site. A larger food store would better meet the requirements of the operator and new and existing customers." The plans are yet to be determined by the city council.
