Plaint against CM Charanjit Singh Channi filed in Ludhiana court

LUDHIANA: Three days after Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s remarks on migrants from UP, Bihar and Delhi, made in the presence of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra during a rally in Ropar stoked a controversy, a Ludhiana resident, who originally belongs to Bihar, has filed a complaint against the CM in a Ludhiana court.

The complaint filed by Lal Babu of Haibowal Kalan, through advocate Gaurav Arora, seeks registration of a case against Channi under Section 153 A(promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc. , and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony), 295 (injuring or defiling place of worship with intent to insult the religion of any class), 295A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 505 (statements conducing to public mischief), 511 (punishment for attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
